The rustic Grandma’s apple pie is a cake that remains soft and creamy for a few days. To prepare the cake are used the sweet yellow apples and pantry ingredients such as sugar, flour, baking powder. The smell that will come out from oven will make your mouth water! Apples most commonly used for the cake are the Golden, yellow and very sweet, with a thin skin. But it will be very tasty even with Fuji and Royal Gala. The first ones have juicy and crunchy pulp with a sweet and aromatic flavor, the Royal Gala, however, are bicolor red and yellow and have a fine juicy and crunchy pulp, always very sweet.

  • 200 g 00 cake flour

  • 1 lemon

  • 1 pinch of salt

  1. Wash and peel apples, take out the core, cut into four pieces and cut them into slices. Grate the lemon zest and set aside. We suggest you a trick to avoid doing blacken apples: Put the slices in a bowl with the lemon juice. Place the butter in a double boiler to melt. Preheat oven to 180°.

  3. Step by step, add all the other ingredients: lemon zest, milk, cinnamon, a teaspoon of vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, baking powder and finally the flour. Continue to stir until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
  4. Combine apples into the mixture, after being drained to remove the lemon juice.
  5. Grease and flour a cake pan about 25 cm in diameter and pour in the mixture, spread good apples here and there. Dust the surface with icing sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 50-60 minutes. Take the cake out of the oven and let cool.
  7. Serve your delicious “Grandma’s apple pie” after having dusted again with icing sugar mixed with cinnamon.
  8. You can preserve your fabulous cake under a glass bell for 2 or 3 days at the most at room temperature.
